My husband’s favorite mushrooms are chanterelle, so we purchase them every time they are in season. This was the first time ordering them from Northwest. I placed my order a week ahead of the delivery date, to make sure they arrived in time for when I had guests over. After they failed to arrive on the scheduled delivery date, I called and they shipped them the same date (but no apology for the lateness). Immediately upon arrival, they were placed in the fridge, interlined with paper towels, and cooked the next day. However, upon their delivery, at least 2/3 had brown, slimy edges. But after cutting those off, I decided to cook them anyway as everybody looked forward to them. Much to my entire family’s extreme disappointment, after spending a good amount of time cleaning them and cooking, we discovered that they had a pronounced bitter taste and awful smell, similar to what very old olive oil sometimes has. (Not it wasn’t the oil they were cooked on). I was and am still very upset, as I later purchased foraged chanterelles from a local source, two weeks after they were packed, and they were still in perfect condition. So how could Northwest Wild Foods claim they are picked daily if they were so spoiled? I just wish I took a video as I unpacked them to show the condition they arrived in.

Wanted to update my negative review due to great customer service, but apparently the review was deleted. Makes me question the validity of reviews here. :-/
